Privacy Policy

Who we are

ZTL Italia (“the site”) is a free, independent project that maps Italy's Limited Traffic Zones (ZTL). It is not a company and not affiliated with any government body. The site is reachable at https://ztlitaly.com.

Information we collect

We do not ask you to create an account and we never collect payment details. Browsing the site, searching it and using the map all work without you submitting any personal information. The one place you can choose to give us some is the contact form, described below.

The following limited data may be processed when you visit:

• Technical request data — like your IP address, browser type, and the pages you view — which is handled by our hosting/CDN provider to deliver the site and keep it secure.
• What you type into the contact form — only if you choose to send one. See The contact form below.
• Approximate location — only if you tap the “locate me” button on the map. Your location is requested by your browser, used in your browser to show your position on the map, and is not sent to or stored by us.
• Cookies and similar technologies — set by third-party services described below, chiefly advertising.

The contact form

If you send a message through the contact form, we receive what you typed into it: your name, your email address, the topic you picked, and your message. You choose all of it — nothing is taken from you automatically and nothing is pre-filled.

It is used for one thing: reading your message and replying to it. We do not add you to a mailing list, because there isn't one, and we do not pass what you write to anyone else or use it for advertising.

How the message reaches us, and what touches it on the way:

• The form is submitted to an endpoint on this site running on Cloudflare, which also hosts the site.
• Before the message is accepted it is checked by Cloudflare Turnstile, an anti-spam test that replaces the usual “prove you are human” puzzle. Turnstile processes your IP address and technical signals from your browser to judge whether the submission looks automated. It is not used to track you across sites and does not profile you for advertising — see Cloudflare's privacy policy.
• The message is then delivered to our own inbox by Resend, an email delivery service acting on our behalf. Resend handles the contents of your message and your email address purely in order to deliver it, and does not use either for its own purposes — see Resend's privacy policy. Your address is set as the reply-to, so that replying reaches you.

Messages are kept in that inbox for as long as it takes to deal with them and for a reasonable period afterwards, so a follow-up months later still has context — corrections about a town are often worth re-reading when its zone changes again. You can ask for your message to be deleted at any time by writing to contact@ztlitaly.com.

If you would rather not use the form, email that address directly. It reaches the same place and skips Turnstile entirely.

Advertising & cookies (Google AdSense)

This site shows ads through Google AdSense to help cover its running costs. To serve ads, Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
• You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices.

Before any advertising cookie is set, a consent message asks whether you agree. It is shown to every visitor, not only those in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland where consent is required by law. Until you accept, advertising storage is switched off and no personalised ad cookie is set.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time: reopen the cookie settings.

Analytics

We may use a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics measurement to understand overall traffic (for example, how many people visit and which pages are popular). This does not identify you personally and does not track you across other websites.

When you pick a place from the search in the site header, we record which page you chose (for example the Siena page) so we know which cities people look for. We do not record what you typed, and nothing about you is stored with it.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links (for example to car rental, parking, or travel services) may be affiliate links, meaning the site could earn a small commission if you buy something, at no extra cost to you. Any third-party site you visit is governed by its own privacy policy.

Third-party services

The site loads resources and services from third parties that may process technical data (such as your IP address) as part of delivering their service:

• Hosting and content delivery (to serve the site).
• Cloudflare Turnstile (anti-spam on the contact form) and Resend (delivering contact-form messages to us) — both only when you use that form.
• Map tiles from OpenFreeMap (built from OpenStreetMap data), and the Leaflet and MapLibre map libraries.
• Google Fonts (for typography) and Google AdSense (for advertising).

Your rights & choices

You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings, opt out of personalised ads using the links above, and choose not to use the “locate me” feature. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct, or erase personal data held about you, or to object to its processing. We hold no account data, so usually the only thing we have is a message you chose to send us — ask and it will be deleted. Anything else generally sits with the third-party services described above, whose own policies and tools apply.

Children

This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above reflects the most recent change. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
